Three rectors ago, I volunteered to do some work in the office at church. One of my first assignments was to bring some order out of the several shelves of old and dusty books then in the office of the rector. The condition and copyright dates of these books made me feel that a quick and painless disposal of same would be in order, but Fr. Hart assured me that most of them were classics and worth saving. So I dusted and rearranged what was to be the nucleus of our library.

Some months later the library was named as the memorial for a long-time church member and with that money we were able to order some books and buy our first bookcases. Appropriate books were donated by a number of people, both in and out of the church, and gradually the library inventory grew. One highlight of this development was the point at which the children no longer needed to hold their Sunday School sessions in that room, and now, except for some meetings, the library is now, as Webster defines it, a "room for the collection of books."

Anytime the office is open, the library is available for use. It is well-lit, and cosy in the winter, and unfortunately, in the summer as well.    V. Shelton, Librarian
